Steve McQueen completed in the 1964 International Six day trial as a member of Team USA aboard his Triumph motorcycle. The event was held in Eastern Germany, which was then behind the Iron curtain.

Steve rode well and was on the pace for a top finish until a high speed crash sidelined him on day 3, leaving him battered and bruised and unable to continue.

Artist Rob Kinsey completed this study of Steve waiting at a timecheck, based on an original photograph from photographer Lynn Wineland, who followed the team and captured many iconic moments.  More of Lynn’s work can been seen in the book “40 Summers Ago” by author Sean Kelly, a great read about Steve, his fascination for motorcycles and the preparation that went into this event.
